Part 5 Hawa’a Haida Gwaii – Best restaurant in Sanspit
I have never, ever eaten at an airport restaurant that I liked. But that changed when I was in Sandspit on Morseby Island in Haida Gwaii on British Columbia’s northern coast.
Brady’s Bistro at the Sandspit Airport is the place in Sandspit to have lunch – that is unless it’s Sunday and you go to the market where all sorts of home made goodies are available and being sold by locals. And Brady’s is THE place in town to breakfast.
Brady’s takes the award for best airport restaurant food IN THE WORLD- for lunch and breakfast. Brady, the owner, bakes fresh cinnamon buns, brews a fabulous espresso and serves a mean egg sandwich. When I had lunch, she had curried broccoli and pork soup and a crispy fresh salad. Too bad she closes after the last flight arrives at 3:30 p.m.
Like everyone else I had the pleasure of meeting in Sandspit – where people don’t lock their doors – Brady is friendly and receptive to meeting new people. She laughs a lot, smiles a lot. And even though, she’s always busy, she takes the time to share a joke or a conversation.
And as testimony that my opinion is shared by others, Brady regularly gets awards as a Recommended Where to Eat in Canada. Which seems like lukewarm praise for this gem of a eatery.
So, when in Sandspit, don’t balk with disbelief that airport food can anything more than edible – try Brady’s. Best in Class – anywhere.
